Start your free trial and choose a plan

How the 7 day free trial works, what happens when it ends, and how to switch to yearly or cancel before you are charged.

New Zapped accounts choose a plan before they open Overview. Monthly plans start with a 7 day free trial and ask for a payment card. Yearly plans start right away.

Use this guide when

You are signing up, you are in a free trial, or you want to know what happens on the day it ends.

Before you start

  • Have a payment card ready. A monthly trial needs one, and your plan costs nothing until the trial ends.
  • If a team owner invited you, accept the invitation instead. Team members do not choose a plan.

Steps

  1. Open the plan page on Monthly. The page opens on Yearly, so choose Monthly if you see Yearly first. Pick Solo, Team or Business and the number of people, then choose Try free for 7 days.
  2. If you do not have an account yet, register and confirm your email. Zapped then asks you to choose your plan on a page titled Choose your plan.
  3. Under When you pay, read the dated lines: what you pay today, when the trial starts, the reminder email and the date of your first charge.
  4. Choose Start my 7 day free trial. The line above the button says that by starting you agree to the terms of service.
  5. Enter your card on the secure Stripe page. You land back in Zapped with your trial running, so you can create your first card from Overview.

Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing for the plan. On the end date your card is charged the plan price automatically, and your 30 day money back on the plan starts from that first charge.

What happens during the trial

The Plan page shows your end date: Your free trial ends on that date, your card is then charged and your plan continues.

  • Day one: We email you that your free trial has started.
  • Three days before the end: We email you the date and the amount of your first charge. That is day 4 of a 7 day trial.
  • On the end date: Your card is charged the plan price and your plan continues. Your 30 day money back on the plan runs from this charge.
  • If you cancel first: You keep your plan until the trial ends and you are not charged. After that, an account that has not paid for a plan returns to the plan page to choose one, and an older Free account moves back to Free.
  • If the first charge fails: Paid access ends when the trial ends, with no grace hours. We email you a link to pay the invoice, and your plan comes back as soon as the payment goes through.

Change your plan during the trial

Any change you make during a trial, a bigger or smaller plan, a different size or monthly to yearly, applies right away and costs nothing today. Your trial keeps its end date. The first charge on that date is the new plan price, and the review page shows it before you confirm.

Switch to yearly during the trial

While you are in a monthly trial, a banner on Overview and on the Plan page offers Switch to yearly with the date and the amount you would save. The day 4 reminder email has the same link. The offer is not on the plan choice page itself.

The confirmation page is titled Switch to yearly. It shows Due today as zero, that your trial continues until the end date, and that the first charge on that date is the yearly price instead of the monthly one. Tick the agreement line and choose Switch to yearly, or choose Go back. The 30 day money back still applies, and you can switch back to monthly before the end date.

Adding a setup service to a trial

A setup is charged on the day you order it, even though your plan is free for the trial. The button then reads Start my free trial, pay the setup price today. Your plan trial keeps running while we build. Setup is refundable for 30 days, or until we start building.

Until you choose a plan

A new owner who has not chosen a plan can open Settings, the plan page, payments, Help, team invitations and any setup order they paid for. Overview, Cards and the other workspace pages wait until a plan is chosen. Public cards, QR codes and NFC taps keep working.

Good ways to use this

  • Use the day 4 email to decide: keep the plan, switch to yearly or cancel.
  • Pick monthly to try Zapped, or yearly if you already know you will keep it.
  • Put your own reminder in your calendar for the day before the trial ends.

Common questions

Do I pay anything today on a monthly trial?

Not for the plan. A card is required and the first charge is on the end date. If you add a setup service, the setup is charged today.

Can I try a yearly plan free?

No. Yearly starts today, with 30 day money back on the plan.

Can I pause during the trial?

No. Pause is for paid monthly plans. During a trial you can cancel before the end date.

Can I get a second trial?

No. Each account and each card gets one free trial. A returning account starts paid today, and the 30 day money back on the plan still applies. If another account already used your payment card for a trial, we cancel the new trial without charging you and email you a link to subscribe.

If something looks wrong

  • If you cannot open Overview or Cards, you have not chosen a plan yet. Open the plan page and choose one.
  • If the reminder email does not arrive, check your spam folder. The end date is also on your Plan page.
  • If you were invited to a team, accept the invitation from Teams. If you decline it, you choose a plan for your own account.
