Changing plans and grandfathered pricing

How your price is protected, what happens to an earlier plan, and when a plan change takes effect.

Your price never goes up while you keep your plan, even if our prices change. Any change to your plan moves you to the prices of the day you make the change.

Use this guide when

You want to move to a bigger or smaller plan, switch between monthly and yearly, or you are on an earlier plan such as Starter or Professional.

Before you start

  • Only the account owner can change the plan. Switch to your Personal workspace first.

Steps

  1. Switch to your Personal workspace and open Settings, then Plan and billing.
  2. Choose the plan, size and billing period you want.
  3. Review the new price, the date it starts and what changes.
  4. Tick the confirmation box, then confirm.

Changing plans moves you to today's prices. That includes moving to a bigger or smaller team, moving between Solo, Team and Business, and switching between monthly and yearly billing.

If you are on an earlier plan

Starter, Professional and other earlier plans are no longer offered to new customers. If you have one, you keep your current plan, price and cards exactly as they are, for as long as you keep that plan.

When you change plans, your new plan is at today's prices, and you cannot move back to the earlier plan or its price later. Before you confirm, the Plan page shows: Your current price is kept only while you stay on this plan. Changing plans moves you to today's prices. You need to tick the box to confirm before the change goes ahead.

If you pay for an earlier plan yearly, it can renew as that same plan. You do not need to change anything. The plan picker shows your current earlier plan and the current Solo, Team and Business plans. Any plan you switch to is one of the current plans, so the earlier plan is not offered again once you leave it.

A monthly earlier plan cannot move to yearly billing on that earlier plan. The Plan page says Yearly billing is not available on that plan anymore, and offers a new plan with yearly billing instead. Earlier monthly plans keep Pause.

When a change takes effect

Your cards, leads and teams are never deleted by a move to a smaller plan. If you have more live cards than the smaller plan allows, every card stays editable, and a new live card waits until a spot is free. You can cancel a scheduled move to a smaller plan before the period ends.

  • A bigger plan, or monthly to yearly: Takes effect right away, once the payment goes through. You pay the difference for the rest of your billing period. Moving from monthly to yearly starts a new yearly period that day, with credit for the unused month.
  • A smaller plan, or yearly to monthly: Takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for. You pay nothing now, and the new price starts at renewal.
  • During a free trial: Any change, bigger, smaller or between monthly and yearly, applies right away and costs nothing today. Your trial keeps its end date, and the first charge on that date is the new plan's price, shown before you confirm.

Good ways to use this

  • Export the leads you need before moving to a plan that keeps them for a shorter time.
  • Turn off cards you no longer need before moving to a smaller team.
  • Review the new price and start date on the Plan page before you confirm.

Common questions

If I turn off a card, do I pay less?

Not by itself. Turning off a card frees a live card spot on your current plan. To pay less, move to a smaller plan; it starts at your next renewal.

Can I keep my old price and add more people?

No. Moving to a bigger plan moves you to today's prices for the new plan.

Does the 30 day money back apply to an earlier plan?

Yes. One rule covers every plan. Ask within 30 days of your first payment and we refund your plan. After a free trial the 30 days start on the first charge. The Plan page shows your window while it is open.

Can I pause or cancel instead of changing?

Yes. A monthly plan can pause, and any plan can cancel at the end of the period. Your cards and content stay saved.

If something looks wrong

  • If a payment for an upgrade is declined, your plan does not change. Update your card on the Plan page and try again.
  • If a smaller plan has fewer member logins than the teammates you have invited, counting open invitations, the change is held. Invitations that have expired do not count, and a change that keeps the same plan is never held. The Plan page tells you how many members to remove on the Teams page first. Then change your plan.
  • If you do not see the plan you want, switch to your Personal workspace.
