Save the contact right away

Let a tap on your NFC card, or a scan of your Flexible QR code, go straight to saving your contact instead of opening the card page.

An NFC card or a Flexible QR code can skip the card page and go straight to saving your contact, just like pressing the Save contact button on your card.

Use this guide when

You want people who tap your NFC card or scan your Flexible QR code to save your contact in one step.

Before you start

  • It works for NFC cards and Flexible QR codes that open a card. Main QR codes always open the card page, and anything that opens a website opens the website.
  • The card it opens must show its Save contact button and must not have a password. Otherwise the card page opens instead.

Steps

  1. Open the NFC card from NFC Cards, or the Flexible QR code from QR Codes.
  2. In Where it opens on an NFC card, or What it opens on a Flexible QR code, choose A card and pick the card.
  3. Under When someone taps this card, or When someone scans this code, choose Save the contact right away.
  4. Save. The lists then show the choice, for example Jordan Vega (save contact) or Saves the contact.
  5. Test it with a phone. You can also choose this when you add an NFC card or a Flexible QR code.

Taps and scans still count. Visits that save the contact skip the card page, its links and its lead form.

What happens on each phone

The phone gets the same contact file as the Save contact button, a vCard file with your details.

  • iPhone: Safari shows the contact card, and the person adds it to Contacts.
  • Android: The phone downloads the contact file. The person opens it from the download notification to add it to Contacts.

When the card page opens instead

If the card has a password, the card page opens so the password is asked first. The contact can then be saved there with Save contact.

If the card hides its Save contact button, the card page opens. Turn the button back on in the card editor to save the contact right away.

If the card is unpublished or turned off, people see a not active message, as with any tap or scan. The NFC card or QR code page explains under Opens or What it opens.

Who can change it

The workspace owner or an Admin with access to all resources, on NFC cards and Flexible QR codes alike, including when they add one. It cannot be changed on lost cards or on anything Zapped turned off. A choice that was already saved keeps working. NFC cards and QR codes on a team lists every role.

Good ways to use this

  • Use it on NFC cards you hand out at events, where people mainly want your number and email.
  • Keep Show the card page for codes on posters and signs, where people want to read about you first.
  • Keep your contact details complete in the card editor, because they are what gets saved.

Common questions

Does it cost extra?

No. It is part of NFC cards and Flexible QR codes.

Will my lead form still work?

Not for these visits, because the card page is skipped. Choose Show the card page if the lead form matters more.

How do I switch back?

Choose Show the card page and save.

What happens when I replace a lost NFC card?

A replacement that opens a card keeps the choice.

If something looks wrong

  • If the card page opens instead, check that the card shows its Save contact button and has no password.
  • If Save the contact right away is missing, the NFC card or QR code opens a website, or it is a Main QR code.
  • On Android, if nothing seems to happen, open the download notification or the Downloads app.
