If you are a Coinbase wallet user, then you may have noticed that there is the option of a QR code scanner included in the app. But what’s their use in sending and receiving payments?

QR codes are becoming increasingly popular as a way to share information and data, so it’s understandable that you might want to know how to scan QR codes with Coinbase Wallet.

Luckily, there is a workaround that will allow you to scan QR codes with Coinbase Wallet. In this article, we will show you how to do this. Let’s discuss it in detail.

About Sending And Receiving Cryptocurrency

You can receive or send cryptocurrency with the help of Coinbase wallets. Sending and receiving both are available on mobile and web. Remember that Coinbase doesn’t help receive ETH, ETC mining rewards. Let’s discuss step by step how you can send and receive cryptocurrency through mobile apps and browsers.

Steps For Sending

If you have to send to an address that is in use by another Coinbase user who has opted for instant send, you can use off-chains sends. With the help of off-chain instant, you can send and receive without any transaction fees.

However, for on-chain sends, you have to pay transaction fees. Let’s discuss how you can send and receive step by step.

Website

  • From the left side of the screen, click on send/Receive/pay from the dashboard.
  • Enter the amount of crypto you want to send on the sent tab.
  • Enter the details of the person you want to send the crypto to, such as phone number, email address, and crypto address.
  • Click pay with and select the asset to deliver the funds from.
  • Click now to review the details, and then click send now.
  • Remember, you cannot reverse all sends to crypto addresses.

Mobile App

  • Tap on the send from Home or pay the tab.
  • Enter the amount you want to send and choose the assets.
  • Select continue for confirmation and review the transaction details.
  • Enter the receiver details such as email address and phone number, or you can also scan the QR code.
  • Tap preview to review the details.
  • Click Send now to complete this action.

If you are a Coinbase customer and the receiver has NOT opted into instant send in his privacy settings, then the sends will be made on-chains and incur network fees. However, if the receiver address is not associated with a Coinbase customer, the delivery will be made on-chain, sent on the respective currency networks, and incur network fees. In this type, all sends are reversible.

Steps For Receiving

After signing in, you can receive your funds by sharing your unique cryptocurrency address using mobile devices or through your browser. Whether you want or not your crypto to be verified as a Coinbase customer, you can control it by opting into instant sends in your privacy settings. Other users can send you the money rapidly and without any transaction fee if you opt-in. However, any sends on your crypto account will remain on-chain if you opt-out.

Web

  • From the left side of the screen, select pay from the dashboard.
  • Choose Receive.
  • Choose Assets and select the asset you’d like to receive.
  • After selecting the asset, the address and QR code will populate.

Mobile App

  • On the Home page, select Receive or Tap on the Pay tab.
  • Choose the asset you want to receive.
  • After selecting the asset, the address and QR code will populate.
  • You can receive cryptocurrency by sharing your email address, selecting a copy address, or allowing the sender to scan your QR code.
